Psychotherapy – A process of personal development aimed at increasing the sense of meaning and well-being in life

“Psychotherapy is a process of internal investigation; an exploration into the areas of the self that are not completely known."

People often ask “what is the difference between Psychotherapy and Counselling”? It is a good question, as people generally want the best type of therapy they can receive. Although the differences between the two are largely in terms of how they are practised and experienced, the distinctions appear quite small to clients entering therapy. As a new client, it’s important to understand that there is no choice as to which therapy you commence. Ultimately, how you are feeling and what you want to achieve will guide the therapeutic care you receive.

Psychotherapy is a process of personal development that is aimed at increasing the sense of meaning and well-being in life. It instigates growth and maturity, which not only alleviates symptoms but also fosters a capacity to feel connected and in-tune with life. As inner conflicts are resolved, authentic values, feelings and desires are discovered, restoring a sense of harmony

Generally, it is not uncommon for people to commence counselling and then drift into long-term psychotherapy. This is because most people enter counselling to get ‘back on their feet’ and deal with issues that prevent them from experiencing the life they wish to live. However, once the initial issues have subsided and they are feeling better, there is a natural tendency to begin work and discover other aspects of our self. This is when psychotherapy based sessions begin.

What can Chad Monger do for you

Psychotherapy is a process of internal investigation; an exploration into the areas of the self that are not completely known but which influence how we feel and act. This process goes beyond just treating the symptoms by focusing on the totality of how you experience life. The process includes exploring feelings and developing the ability to express emotions, recognising feelings and thoughts that are often avoided and exploring why, discovering patterns in relationships, exploring recurring scenarios, exploring your relationship with yourself, recognising experience and how that impacts upon the present, exploring desires, fears, dreams and behaviours.

See what my clients have to say…

From the moment I first contacted Chad, I knew I was in good hands. Chad is a very special person that makes you feel welcome and supported, while also respecting who you are as an individual. He is never pushy, nor has he ever been out of touch with where I’m at. Most notable of all, the connect he generates is real, which I have come to see as a critical part of the healing. Thank you, Chad, I now have my life back!

Thanks for everything, Chad. Your help and support during this difficult time have been our saving grace! Without you, we would have ended our relationship and remained bitter towards each other, which is a difficult thought to consider. We have come so far, and our relationship feels so strong now. We can’t wait to finally live in this freedom you have helped us achieve. Thank you so much!

Patrice & Trevor, 2019

I had never been to counselling before I started with Chad. I had always been against the idea as it did feel like the right thing to do. When I called Chad, he immediately sensed my hesitation and put my mind at ease about the whole thing. The process has been amazing. I now feel like a part of my family again, and life feels great. I would highly recommend Chad.

Steve, 2019
